During the week, members of the Stem Club Robotics Division reflected on the various methods used by other teams during the "Nothing But Net" competition.

Of the proposed methods, the sling shot like method is what is currently under evaluation. As with many other alternatives, this method has its set of drawbacks, all of which were being discussed. Of the problems discussed was the method of reloading. The solutions proposed were the use of cams, a rack and pinion system utilizing a gear with a portion of it smoothed out, and a form of a winch and pull system.

Progress has been slow due to the lack of proper parts, however, confirmation of the orders being placed has brought with it renewed determination in the Robotics Club.

Summer 2 Internship 2018

07/05/2018 Zachary managed to finish redesigning the extending claw. While the overall mechanism is now smaller than the original, it still has some of the same issues; the claw itself is too bulky and two motors may be needed to raise or lower the arm. After building the prototype for the launcher Deepa started working on the launcher by attaching it to the base. the base that I built using mecannum wheel and four motors for each and to increase the speed of the motors I used the chains and sprockets. 07/09/2018 Zachary is working on a prototype for the arm's turntable and lifting mechanism. Depending on the length of the lifting mechanism, he should be able to mount the arm on or near a corner of the robot. This should help resolve any mobility and dimension issues presented by the original approach, as well as make loading the launching mechanism easier. The lifting mechanism's concept can be described as "a glorified lever." The extending claw will be ra...

Winter Internship 2019

Winter Internship 2019 January 02, 2019 In January 2,   since I already have a robot to work on, this internship I am planning to use this opportunity to maintain the robot by comparing the speeds and the load in the robot to make it more stable. January 07, 2019 During the summer internship, I had to make several changes to the robot and it was really hard to switch the idea between one technique and another. So this time I decided to learn 3D designing and build the 3D design of the robot. It will help me to manipulate the robot by using different function. January 08, 2019 On Wednesday, I spent the whole day learning 3D designing. January 10, 2019
